I recently received the AX Pro for review. It is a gaming headset made by a company called Tritton. We have had other Tritton products reviewed here on Gadgets and Tech and they have turned out pretty good. Over this review I will tell you if the AX Pro continues the pattern.

Of course what everyone wants to know about gaming headsets is their sound quality. To me this is one of the AX Pro’s biggest pros. This headset has excellent sound quality. The sound quality from these headphones is better than my TV. It also has 5.1 surround sound so you feel even more into your game. To deliver this excellent sound quality the AX Pro has eight speakers, four in each ear.

One of the items that is included in the box is a controller for the headset. On it you can increase or decrease the volume, turn your microphone on and off and turn the chat on the game higher or lower. You can also choose to turn different parts of the acoustics higher or lower. Just click the part you want to change and put it up or down. You can choose between front, center, rear or subwoofer. If you don’t click a certain one then you will just control all of them by default.

Since the AX Pro is a gaming headset a microphone is also included. So you can talk to your friends on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network or your Mac/PC. I did find one problem with the microphone; it doesn’t pick up quieter sounds. So if you talk softer than most people this might not be for you because the microphone will not be able to pick up your voice. Other than that small problem the microphone has worked fine for me.

The biggest con I found in the AX Pro is its size and set up time. It did take me a while to figure out where all the cords go because there are many cords that come in the box with the headset itself. The set up process is also fairly complex. There are many different boxes, cords, and outlets, but hopefully you can figure it out with the instruction manual that they give you. This is one thing that I think they could improve on in the next generation of the AX Pro. Once you figure out the set up instructions you are good to go!

    Final Points

    Pros

    • Sound quality is excellent.
    • Surround sound.
    • Microphone included.

    Cons

    • Very bulky set up with many pieces.
    • Cords seem like they are going everywhere.
    • Microphone doesn’t pick up quieter sounds.

If you want a great sounding gaming headset with surround sound and you don’t mind a bulky set up system or many cords then the AX Pro would be a great choice for you. You can pick up the AX Pro online for around $160. In my opinion, the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

  • Google Chrome looks like a great web browser

Just today I downloaded Google Chrome, Google’s new internet web browser. Yesterday Google announced that they would be releasing Chrome today. The news was all over tech blogs. Google Chrome installed surprisingly fast and has been working absolutely fabulous. This web browser is only available for Windows and Linux right now but they said that Chrome will come out for Mac soon. Currently Chrome is in beta, but it is a very reliable web browser that hasn’t crashed or lagged once on me yet.

The one thing that I love about Chrome is it’s simplicity. Chrome is the most simple web browser I have ever seen. All it has is tabs on the top with the web address bar right under it. The back, forward, and refresh buttons are to the right of the address bar and tools and preferences to the right. I think that this gives Google a big advantage over many other web browsers, because I’m sure that everyone wants things to be simple. You may notice that I didn’t talk about a search bar. That is because that the search bar is integrated into the address bar, all you have to do is start typing, click enter and your searching Google!

If you want to download Google Chrome you can go to this link. I would highly suggest downloading Chrome, it looks like it is set to be a fantastic internet browser.

Dude, it’s not available for Linux yet, much to my disappointment. It’s looking good.

it will be interesting to see if Chrome can get as much market share as Firefox; for now they seem to have leveled off…

Assassin’s Creed as been a great hit with console gamers and now just recently on PC as well. The game starts out as you being a guy named Desmond. You were kidnapped and taken to a high tech facility. You are being put on a machine called an Animus. The animus is a machine that lets you recall the memories of your ancestors. In this case Desmond is the ancestor of Altair. Altair was an assassin during the crusades. He is a member of the Assassin’s Creed which is where the game’s name comes from. So you are in the animus and they first put you through a tutorial so you learn how to play the game. After the tutorial you are put right in to the game. Altair is supposed to get a treasure in some caves. In doing so he disobeys 3 of Assassin’s Creed’s rules. When they find the treasure they are caught, Altair and one other escape but one is killed. After the the master learns about the rules he broke Altiar is demoted. You lose all of your weapons and special abilities.

So the objective of the game is to move up the ranks again and keep a war from being started. You will travel to a number of different cities like Damascus and Jerusalem. Here you will do things like pick pocketing, eavesdropping, interrogations, save the citizens, and finally assassinations. When ever you do the assassinations you move further into the story. You open up new parts of cities and other things. When you complete objective your memory bar (in the top left) gets larger. The memory bar is basically your health bar.

The fighting parts are definitely the parts that make the game fun to play. When your social icon turns red then you can hit the LT button (Xbox 360) and go into fight mode. It this mode you can hold in RT to block the attacks and press B at the right time to counter the attack. The counters can be anything from just throwing your opponent to the ground to stabbing them in the foot and swiping your sword up to thier head. Another feature that I thought was very cool was the ability to climb very tall building and dive off of them into carts or hay. Although this is very unrealistic it is still fun to jump of of huge buildings for fun. The coolest feature I think is the hidden blade that Altair has on this left forearm. This is your assassination tool. You can use this to sneak up on guards or if you want to civilians. But I don’t recommend doing this because you will fail if you kill to many of them.

This is a great game for anyone who likes games with a lot of killing in stealth or in public. This is also good for people who like the times of the crusades. The graphics of the cities are very good and it feels like you are actually there. I am giving this game a 5/5.

The two main things that I disliked about my play through is the difficulty and the ending. Once you master the counter the game is practically a piece of cake and the ending was absolutely horrible in my opinion.

      Excellent review by the way!

It looks like we have just seen the a new “sneek peek” of the new map pack that is coming out for at least the Xbox 360 and PS3, I’m not sure how or if they are releasing the maps for the PC. The map names are Broadcast, Creek, Chinatown, and Killhouse. They all look really good and I can’t wait until they get released.
